Interesting Communtiy bass horns

Any experience or thoughts on these horns. I've never seen a horn with the driver in the side rather at the end/start of the taper. I've to give one or both a try in my living room, but NY is too far away.

They certainly aren't subs, but look interesting. I suspect they roll below 70-80 Hz.

Probably godawful loud.

The specs say 40hz, but who knows how many db down that is...... then again, those thing are almost 4 feet deep, too.

I'd think so being 3 horn loaded 15" woofers.

I think there are part of the same series that your Community belongs to....... the Community that you got along with the Altec gear you got last year.

yeah but a straight flare, sounds like a comprimise . i think i'll stick with my 210's

I'm not sure if that would be a compromise or not. I haven't thoroughly read any horn theory, but conical horns are addressed in some of the literature that I have...... maybe I should read it?

point taken ABG.. im not really sure either. one thing for certain, the straight flare would be much more cost effective to build. there is someone around here that would know for sure and i would defer to his opinion any day

I suspect they were done that way to make them easier to pop off the fiberglass mold.

Working from a 4 ft horn, and 1/4 wavelength, you get 16 feet. At 1100 fps that sound travels in air, a 16 foot wave is 67 Hz. Actually slightly higher since 1100 is rounded down a little.:coffeedrinker:

Stacking 3 might get you down another 10 Hz. 40 is probably the 10 dB down point.
That's why I don't consider them subs at all.

But on eBay crap $30 speakers are sold as "eight inch sub and piezo.":nosepicker:

I suspect a 210 with 80 hz horn and reflex LF extension is gonna be a nicer box, but I haven't heard the Community speaks, just an impression.
